ESX deployment may fail to get IP assignments from DHCP
- Symptoms: ESX fails to get an IP address from DHCP. TCPDUMP shows checksum errors on DHCP replies
- Cause: This situation caused by the TCO/UCO (TCP/UDP Checksum Offloading) in Windows / Linux hosts. The checksum is calculated in the physical NIC rather than in the OS. This sometimes causes conflicts as the OS receives a "bad" checksum by the burdened NIC.
- Workaround: Disabling checksum offloading.
